What Happens
The first session I will take a complete medical and lifestyle history from you so that the correct treatment can be designed for you, the consultation will probably include a small physical examination which will include palpation of the abdomen, the taking of the pulses and looking at your tongue, all of these will help in the eventual diagnosis and treatment, which will hopefully start on the first visit. Apart from the use of the extremely fine needles (as fine as hair) I may also utilise moxa which is a warming herb when ignited, cupping therapy, which gained public awareness after an actress appeared in the national press with round marks on her back, electro acupuncture where the needles are connected to a micro current to increase stimulation which is used on a minority of patients only, Gua shi, gentle skin scraping with the use of oil for lubrication to relieve muscle stiffness.
